A 6.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula. According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, a tsunami warning was issued in the region after the tremors.
It is reported that, additionally, the Kraseninnikov volcano, located in eastern Kamchatka, has also become active again after many years. Experts stated that the aforementioned volcano erupted for the first time after an approximately 600-year hiatus.
Currently, seismological and volcanological observations have been intensified in the area, and the population is being informed in accordance with evacuation plans. As part of security measures, restrictions have also been imposed on air traffic in the region.
