According to witnesses, several powerful explosions were heard this evening in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Clouds of smoke rising from various parts of the city caused panic among the population, and security forces were deployed to the scene.
The editorial office reports that Israel's Channel 12 TV claimed that the main target of the explosions was Khalil al-Hayya, one of the Hamas leaders. According to the same information, the attack was aimed at the Hamas delegation currently in Doha for peace talks regarding Gaza.
Al Jazeera, however, reported that the explosions occurred in the area where Hamas officials were holding a meeting. After the incident, the area was immediately cordoned off and security measures were intensified.
Official sources have not yet released a statement regarding the causes of the attack or possible casualties, but it is said that the attack was carried out by a drone. However, the claims have led to increased tension in the region. The Qatari leadership is expected to announce its official position in the coming hours.
Further information will be provided as the details of the incident are clarified.
