Iran will contribute to the development and security of the entire region by implementing new governance and legal rules in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Trend, this was stated by Iran's Supreme Leader Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei in his address on the occasion of National Persian Gulf Day in Iran.

Iran's Supreme Leader noted that by implementing governance in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran will secure the Persian Gulf region and prevent opposing parties from abusing it. The new governance will contribute to economic development in the region.

Khamenei added that Iran's science, industry, various technologies, nano, bio, nuclear, and missile technologies are national assets and will protect all its water and land borders.

“Iran is the country with the longest coastline in the Persian Gulf and has made greater efforts for the independence of the Gulf, as well as in the fight against foreigners, from the expulsion of the Portuguese from the Gulf to the liberation of the Strait of Hormuz,” he noted.

It should be noted that on April 30, 1622, during the reign of Shah Abbas Safavi, the Portuguese were expelled from Iran's southern waters and the Strait of Hormuz. For this purpose, April 30 was designated as National Persian Gulf Day in Iran in 2005.
