The opening ceremony of the 28th Republican Scientific Conference of Doctoral Students and Young Researchers (NASCO XXVIII), dedicated to the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty," has taken place at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industrial University (ADNSU).
The conference is jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Education, the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, and ADNSU.
State officials, local and foreign guests, renowned scientists, rectors of higher education institutions, faculty members, doctoral students, and young researchers are participating in the conference.
Prior to the conference, the Alley of Honor was visited, and the cherished memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and prominent ophthalmologist-scientist Mrs. Zarifa Aliyeva was respectfully commemorated, with wreaths and bouquets laid before their graves. The opening ceremony began with the performance of the State Anthem and a minute of silence in memory of our martyrs.
Delivering a welcoming speech, the Rector of ADNSU, Rufat Azizov, stated that the conference has played a significant platform role in the country's scientific life for many years. The Rector noted that NASCO XXVIII covers sustainable development goals and, based on statistical indicators, is a leader in overall metrics with 609 accepted participants. Simultaneously, the number of accepted articles has exceeded 600.
In a comprehensive presentation about the conference, the Rector also highlighted that theses from doctoral students and young researchers from 61 higher education institutions and institutes in Azerbaijan and 11 foreign countries have been accepted. The Rector spoke about the modern scientific environment created at ADNSU for young scientists and the opportunities aimed at encouraging young researchers, stating that the scientific opportunities created by the conference will be a significant contribution in this regard.
Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev addressed the conference, speaking about the achievements in the country's science and education sectors and future priorities. The Minister specifically emphasized that science and education are strategic priorities for Azerbaijan, and the goal is not only to increase theoretical knowledge but also to strengthen the integration of science with the economy and society.
In his speech, the Minister stated that new-generation doctoral programs to be implemented in the country from September will enable young scientists to conduct their scientific activities in line with international standards. The Minister stressed that the expansion of a multidisciplinary approach in higher education, structural reforms in ANAS (Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences), modernization of grant and financial mechanisms, and the development of the startup ecosystem and technoparks have strengthened Azerbaijan's scientific potential. The Minister noted that these reforms and initiatives lay the foundation for the future development of our country in the field of science and innovation.
At the end of his speech, the Minister noted that NASCO XXVIII is an important platform for young scientists for the presentation of scientific results and exchange of ideas, and wished success to the conference.
Following the official opening ceremony, the conference continued its work in sections.
It should be noted that within the framework of the two-day conference, panel discussions on the topics "The Immortal Legacy of Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev and the Perspectives of Modern Chemistry" and "Science-Based Innovation," as well as scientific reports covering various scientific directions, will be organized.
The main goal of the conference is to stimulate the scientific activity of young researchers, expand the exchange of scientific ideas, and create a platform for sharing experiences.
