Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is on a visit to the United Arab Emirates at the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
On December 17, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his gratitude to the head of state for participating in the opening ceremony of the annual global sports tournament "Global Games 2025" held in Abu Dhabi.
President Ilham Aliyev, in turn, thanked him for the invitation and conveyed his congratulations on the high-level organization of this event in the United Arab Emirates.
During the conversation, it was emphasized that the Azerbaijan-UAE bilateral relations, based on strategic partnership, are successfully developing in all areas, including political, economic, energy, as well as renewable energy, cultural, humanitarian, and other directions.
The visits of the head of state to the UAE and the UAE President to Azerbaijan were recalled with satisfaction, and the role of all these and other mutual visits carried out at various levels in the development of relations was touched upon.
At the meeting, the presidents of Azerbaijan and the UAE exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation.
Then, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan participated in the opening ceremony of the annual global sports tournament "Global Games 2025".
It should be noted that "Global Games" is a global sports tournament planned to be held annually. The tournament is carried out in two stages. In the first stage, athletes compete in physical sports. In the second stage, athletes' skills in digital games are tested. Under the motto "Next Generation People. Play Your Future," athletes from various countries will compete in a total of 11 sports. Last year, the UAE won the right to host the "Global Games" tournament in 2025 among 9 candidate applicants.
Later, a lunch was hosted in honor of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on behalf of the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
