We can proudly say that there is no international tournament or championship where Azerbaijani athletes do not achieve victories, where our anthem is not played, and our tricolor flag is not flown. In this regard, Azerbaijan is recognized as one of the leading countries in the world in terms of sports development. Representing our country with dignity in international competitions held in most sports, our athletes are achieving historic successes and winning great victories.
The great successes of our athletes are not without reason. The state's attention and care for sports and athletes are increasing day by day. Athletes who once left the country for known reasons have now returned to their homeland. They are receiving comprehensive care and attention. The strength and power inherent in the blood and genes of the Azerbaijani people are clearly demonstrated through our athletes. Our athletes are truly conquering the whole world. The fact that over 600 of our athletes, who won more than 2000 medals in 2025, have managed to have the Azerbaijani national anthem played and our flag raised is part of our historic achievements.
Yes, not only the sports community but the entire Azerbaijani nation is proud of our athletes who have made our flag known to the whole world. Of course, achievements and victories must be recognized and valued. The fact that our successful athletes are personally received by the Esteemed President Mr. Ilham Aliyev at the end of each year is the highest value and appreciation given to them. The thoughts expressed by Mr. President during the meeting dedicated to the sports results of 2025 were historically significant words. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief, who explained every issue with special professionalism and skill, also sent the necessary messages to the world. Today, our country is on a path of successful development under the leadership of its Leader. Like all sectors, our sports are also developing.
High-level conditions are being created for sports and athletes. The Olympic Sports Complex built and opened in our Neftchala district with the special attention and care of the Head of State, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, has led to an increase in the interest of our youth in various sports. We believe that high-level athletes who will represent Azerbaijan worthily will be trained here.
