Thousands of people were evacuated in Hong Kong city after an unexploded World War II bomb, approximately 5 feet long and weighing 1000 pounds, was found. The incident occurred in the city's West Quarry Bay district, and this is not the first bomb remaining from the war.

Redaksiya reports that, according to a statement released by Hong Kong police, the US-made bomb could have been dropped by US military forces during the war and contained 500 pounds of TNT. Bomb disposal experts worked from 2:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday to neutralize the threat. As part of the evacuation measures, approximately 6000 people were evacuated from 1900 homes. Police stated that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team neutralized the bomb "under typhoon conditions" and as a result, no one was injured.

The Hong Kong Police Force stated that because officers from the "Explosive Ordnance Disposal" bureau believed the bomb was in good condition, they prepared an evacuation plan to ensure public safety. In 2018, another World War II bomb found at a construction site in Hong Kong's business district was also neutralized. That bomb also weighed 1000 pounds and was the third bomb found since January of that year. Hong Kong was occupied by Japanese forces during the war and subjected to air raids by the US.
