Media representatives from various countries around the world are participating in the Shusha Global Media Forum. Here, we gather to discuss important and problematic issues on the agenda of modern media. One of the main discussion topics of this year's Shusha Global Media Forum is the impact of artificial intelligence on media. This is because artificial intelligence significantly affects various areas of our lives, including the media sector. It is no longer possible to think of media separately from technology.

These words were stated by Hikmət Hacıyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, during his statement to journalists at the III Shusha Global Media Forum. He noted that the traditional media we are accustomed to is currently undergoing a transformation phase due to the development of digital technologies. If previously we discussed the impact of social media on traditional media, today the impact of artificial intelligence on the media environment has become a specific topic of discussion. This is an inevitable fact.

“The topic of artificial intelligence replacing the human factor is a matter that the future will reveal. However, honestly, I do not believe in this. In my opinion, artificial intelligence will be more of a tool that supports and complements the activities of journalists, rather than replacing human labor. The work of professionals in the media field does not end merely with gathering information; it requires creativity, critical thinking, and an ethical approach.

On the other hand, artificial intelligence provides invaluable assistance in areas such as large-scale data analysis, rapid data extraction, automation of translation work, and 'Big Data' analysis. Some of our media organizations have already started implementing these technologies. Particularly, automatic translation and voice-over services in Russian and English yield certain positive results,” added the Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration.

He also drew attention to the increasing capabilities of artificial intelligence to receive information, conduct analysis independently, and make decisions: “Artificial intelligence even has the power to influence algorithmic processes. This brings to the forefront the possibility of professional journalism being exposed to the potential manipulative effects of artificial intelligence.

We are already regularly holding meetings with the heads of television and online media entities in this direction, discussing practical application possibilities.”
