The XIV Regional Conference was held in Ganja, co-organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Academician Zarifa Aliyeva National Center of Ophthalmology, and the Azerbaijan Society of Ophthalmologists. This event, which has become a tradition and is organized annually in various regions of the country, aims to develop ophthalmological services in the regions, expand scientific and practical cooperation among doctors, and promote the application of modern medical technologies.
The main goal of the conference was to present the results of the latest scientific research, new technologies, and innovative treatment methods in the field of ophthalmology, as well as to discuss the possibilities of applying these innovations in practical medical activities and to ensure the participation of regional doctors. The event served to improve the quality of ophthalmological services across the country by strengthening the exchange of knowledge and experience between ophthalmologists from the regions and the capital.

At the event, Dr. Hicran Namazova, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the Academician Zarifa Aliyeva National Center of Ophthalmology, Dr. Ceyhun Nazarli, Deputy Director of the Academician Zarifa Aliyeva National Center of Ophthalmology, Dr. Yazgul Abdiyeva, Head of the Scientific Information, Education and Organizational-Methodological Department of the Center, as well as Dr. Farah Abdulaliyeva, Dr. Assoc. Prof. Gurban Ismayilov, Dr. Nizami Bagirov, Dr. Sabina Majidova, Dr. Gafar Tagiyev, and Dr. Emin Alihuseynli acted as moderators.
At the conference, presentations on various topics were delivered by Dr. Ceyhun Nazarli, Dr. Yazgul Abdiyeva, Dr. Mirana Mirishova, Dr. Farah Abdulaliyeva, Dr. Emin Alihuseynli, Dr. Gafar Tagiyev, Dr. Gunay Aliyeva, Dr. Elchin Asgarov, Dr. Ramila Ahmadova, Dr. Shafagat Imranova, and Dr. Sabina Guliyeva.
The presentations covered topics such as “20 Years of Experience of the Mobile Clinic of the Academician Zarifa Aliyeva National Center of Ophthalmology”, “Yesterday and Today of the Azerbaijan Society of Ophthalmologists”,
“SMILE Pro – an innovative method of laser vision correction”, “Implantation of toric intraocular lenses in patients with keratoconus diagnosis”, “Retinopathy of prematurity – screening”, “Artificial intelligence and digital solutions in the diagnosis and treatment of myopia”, as well as “Capabilities and development prospects of ‘OftalmoAssist’, the first clinical decision support system in Azerbaijani, an artificial intelligence tool”, and others.
Also, Dr. Hicran Namazova, who spoke at the conference, discussed the significant role of regional conferences in the development of ophthalmological services in all regions of Azerbaijan.
Dr. Ceyhun Nazarli, in his presentation, provided information about the 20-year activity of the Center's mobile clinic. He spoke about the humanitarian medical actions organized by the Mobile Clinic in our lands liberated from occupation – Lachin, Zangilan, Fuzuli, Khankendi, Jabrayil, Shusha, and Aghdam districts – as part of the “Great Return” program implemented by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev.
