French authorities have launched an official criminal investigation against the social media platform "X".
According to "Politico", the investigation was initiated based on a complaint from a French legislator and a high-ranking government official who wished to remain anonymous. The social media platform "X" is suspected of manipulating algorithms for the purpose of foreign interference.
The investigation began in January. The complaint stated that hate speech, racially discriminatory, and anti-LGBT calls aimed at undermining French democracy were disseminated on the platform. The European Commission has also been conducting a separate investigation for nearly two years into "X" platform's alleged violation of the Digital Services Act.
It should be recalled that earlier, Elon Musk supported Telegram head Pavel Durov, justifying his opposition to Western European countries' demand to block the channels of Romanian conservatives. This incident occurred on the eve of the presidential elections to be held in Romania.
