Turkey continues its success in sports tourism with its international sports events calendar. The excitement in this field reaches its peak with the arrival of the winter season in the country.

Adalet.az reports that Erzurum, one of Turkey's most important winter sports centers, is preparing to host prestigious competitions throughout the 2026 season with the famous Palandöken Ski Center.

Erzurum has already firmly established its position on the international stage. The city has been selected as the "Tourism Capital of 2025" by the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and also declared the "First European Winter Sports Capital" by the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES). Palandöken, known for its long ski slopes, modern facilities, and favorable snow conditions, offers high-level infrastructure for professional competitions.

The FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup returns to Erzurum's Palandöken Ski Center from March 6-8, 2026. This will be the second major tournament of this prestigious competition to be held at this venue. Palandöken, renowned for its steep slopes, long tracks, and high-quality snow cover, is considered one of Turkey's most ideal destinations for both skiers and snowboard enthusiasts.

Approximately 300 athletes from 20 countries are expected to participate in the Snowboard Cross competitions. During the three days of adrenaline-filled races, the world's most skilled snowboarders will compete for victory on Palandöken's challenging descents. These fast-paced and exciting moments will once again bring Erzurum into the spotlight of international sports media.

Palandöken Ski Center is attracting attention not only with international sports competitions this year but also with vibrant events that add color to the winter season. The "Frozen Festival," held for six consecutive years since 2020, will open its doors for the seventh time from February 12-15, 2026.

Within the framework of the festival, participants will experience unforgettable moments over four days. The program includes live music and DJ performances by world-renowned artists, après-ski entertainment, night events, and award-winning ski and snowboard competitions. Additionally, yoga sessions, ice sculpting, and a series of unique masterclasses await festival attendees.
