Journalists operating in the Gaza Strip have started a hunger strike to show solidarity with children facing starvation due to Israel's blockade.
The editorial office reports that the main goal of the action, launched under the name "empty stomachs movement," is to draw the international community's attention to the humanitarian catastrophe in the region.
In a statement published on their social media accounts, the journalists participating in the action stated that the hunger strike began two days ago and will continue "until the youngest child in Gaza eats their fill." They called on the international community to join this campaign and take responsibility.
Journalists state that the hunger faced by children has reached an unbearable level, and humanity's silence on this situation is unacceptable.
According to statements, deaths from starvation are increasing. The Gaza Ministry of Health's statement dated July 20 noted that since October 2023, a total of 86 Palestinian citizens, including 76 children, have lost their lives due to starvation and malnutrition as a result of the obstruction of humanitarian aid.
On the other hand, the High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel, representing the Arab community in Israel, also announced that they would hold a 3-day hunger strike to draw attention to the ongoing blockade, starvation, and attacks in Gaza and the West Bank.
