The Main State Traffic Police Department (GDTPA) has appealed to drivers in Azerbaijan in connection with the unstable weather conditions expected from January 17 to 22.
According to the department, the appeal advises road users to be more cautious and prepared:
"The deterioration of weather conditions, following the difficulties created by snowfall in mountainous and foothills regions during the week, requires road users to be more cautious and prepared. The possibility of roads icing over in the morning and evening hours, especially in open areas where snow does not melt and wind blows, on inclines and declines, and on bridges, should not be overlooked."
The information also emphasized that GDTPA employees, together with relevant authorities, are taking preventive measures to eliminate the consequences that rainy weather conditions may cause on the roads and to ensure the safe movement of road users.
Taking into account that traffic intensity on highways will particularly increase on weekends, the GDTPA has requested drivers planning trips in the coming days not to forget the possibility of roads icing over, not to set off with tires that are unsuitable or not appropriate for the season, inexperienced drivers not to get behind the wheel, and individuals and legal entities engaged in passenger transportation to prioritize movement along safer routes.
