Individuals preparing to carry out a terrorist attack against a foreign country's embassy in Azerbaijan have been arrested.
This was reported by the State Security Service (SSS).
During operational-investigative measures carried out by the SSS, there were grounds to suspect that Azerbaijani citizens - Guliyev Ilgar Ilham oglu, born in 2000, with the religious alias "Abu Zar al-Muhajir"; Piriyev Amin Elshad oglu, born in 2005, with the religious alias "Abdurashid"; and Alizade Elvin Sanan oglu, born in 2005, with the religious alias "Abdurrahman al-Azari" - were preparing to commit a terrorist attack on a foreign embassy in Baku on the grounds of religious enmity.
The aforementioned individuals, having entered into criminal collusion with members of the "Vilayat-Khorasan" armed group of the ISIS terrorist organization, and as a group of persons acting in prior conspiracy, obtained items used as weapons to carry out a terrorist attack on the foreign state's embassy in Azerbaijan. They were detained by SSS officers as they approached the area where the embassy is located.
Regarding the incident, Ilgar Guliyev, Amin Piriyev, and Elvin Alizade have been charged under Articles 28, 214.2.1; 28, 214.2.3; and 28, 214.2.6 of the Criminal Code (preparation for terrorism by a group of persons acting in prior conspiracy, using items as weapons, on the grounds of religious enmity). A measure of restraint in the form of detention has been chosen for them by court order.
Currently, investigative and operational measures are continuing in connection with the criminal case.
