By the end of 2025, the state budget in Azerbaijan is expected to be in surplus, and there is a high probability that this trend will continue in 2026.
This was stated by Vugar Ahmadov, Director General of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), at a press conference held at the institution.
According to him, in the first half of this year, the ratio of the current account surplus to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was 6.4%, which indicates positive dynamics: "Further clarifications may occur in subsequent meetings, but no significant correction is expected."
V. Ahmadov added that in 2025–2026, the positive balance on the current account will be approximately 3–4 billion US dollars.
The Director General also noted that the forecasts of the European Union and international organizations coincide with the current assessments of the CBA.
The banker added that the forecast indicators maintain their stability in the medium term, and the public will be informed about possible innovations in this regard at subsequent press conferences.
