The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has exposed the person who transferred citizens' personal data to foreign cyber bunkers.
The editorial office, referring to the ministry's press service, reports that a person who committed mass financial fraud based on citizens' personal data and stole funds by making fake inquiries into individual bank accounts was identified and detained through operational-technical measures.
Thus, 34-year-old Gulamov Eldaniz Shayig oglu is suspected of theft committed by a group of individuals acting in prior conspiracy, using electronic data carriers and information technologies.
It has been determined that E. Gulamov, in prior conspiracy with other individuals, committed a series of criminal acts by obtaining citizens' identity cards, passports, and bank cards through various social network platforms and messenger applications.
The individuals, whose criminal activities were not limited to this, organized the transformation of these documents and copies of bank cards into cyber bunkers.
The criminal group, primarily conducting negotiations via “Facebook”, “Instagram”, and “WhatsApp”, operated by presenting themselves as representatives of banking-financial, pawnshop, humanitarian aid, and state organizations.
It was also determined that they presented themselves as bank employees by placing photos of officials from banks operating in Azerbaijan on fake profiles, and video recordings of citizens' facial images were made.
The damage inflicted on citizens through these and other methods exceeds 300,000 manats.
Currently, measures regarding the suspect in the criminal case and others whose identities have been established by the investigation are ongoing.
