Although media is developing dynamically, the application of legislation in this area lags behind.
"Report" informs that Milli Majlis MP Sevil Mikayilova stated this in her speech at the panel titled "Opportunities for Mutual Cooperation in the Digital Media Environment among OTS Countries" within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Media Forum held in Baku.
She emphasized the necessity of improving the "On Media" law:
"However, this does not mean the complete prevention of black PR campaigns and disinformation. Regarding the issue of individual responsibility in the internet space, there was no such burden of responsibility until now. But with the changes made in this direction in the Code of Administrative Offenses, certain results can be achieved."
S. Mikayilova also noted the importance of implementing such steps in OTS countries:
"Because we are close in terms of religion, customs, traditions, and moral values. In this sense, it is important to take similar steps in the legislative field as well."
