On November 21, within the framework of the D-8 Media Forum held on the topic of “Promoting Dialogue, Cooperation, and Regional Solidarity,” a panel session dedicated to “Responsible Journalism and Digital Innovation” was organized.
The panel discussion was moderated by Orkhan Amashov, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the international television channel “AnewZ”. Faruk Wasif Omar, Director General of the Bangladesh Press Institute; Ezzat Ibrahim, Editor-in-Chief of “Al-Ahram Weekly” and “Al-Ahram Online” publications of Egypt's “Al-Ahram National Foundation” media organization; Ferdian, a digital business and media innovation expert from Indonesia; and Elham Abedini, Director of International Relations for Press TV and a journalist from Iran, spoke as panelists, sharing their views on responsible information production and the opportunities created by digital transformation in the modern media environment.
During the session, participants emphasized the importance of presenting accurate, verified, and reliable information amidst the growing influence of digital platforms. The discussions analyzed issues such as media adaptation to evolving technological trends, journalists' professional responsibility in the context of rapid global information circulation, ethical challenges arising from the application of artificial intelligence, and new generation media consumption models. It was stated that maintaining adherence to professional journalism principles, promoting responsible media activities, and strengthening coordinated efforts among member countries are of significant importance for ensuring information security within the D-8 space.
