Dominique Tardif, Deputy Chief of Staff of the French Air Force, has emphasized the importance of preparing the army for a potential conflict with Russia.

Tardif noted that Moscow could "test NATO's strength" in 2028-2029, in which case the French Air Force would be "on the front line from day one" on the alliance's eastern flank.
He emphasized that the Baltic countries do not have their own fighter jets and Romania's capabilities are limited. He added that Western European states, including France, must be ready for a potential "shock" previously mentioned by General Fabien Mandon, Chief of the Defense Staff.
