Looking back at the life and activities of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, we witness a supernatural force beyond human capacity. The Great Leader, who shaped every sentence and word of the masterpiece called Azerbaijan with love, was a genius who rendered unparalleled service for the bright future of the nation.
It was precisely thanks to his supernatural power that he was able to lead the nation from darkness to light in the truest sense of the word. The great leader, who wrote "Salvation" for the nation's tomorrow and said: "I have always been proud, and I am proud today. I am proud to be Azerbaijani!" always kept Azerbaijani youth in focus, emphasizing the importance of raising the future gene pool as a youth loyal to national-moral and universal values. The National Leader, who always approached youth with special attention, called them "The Future of Azerbaijan" and stressed the importance of constantly caring for them. This great personality, who correctly assessed the role of youth in building a strong democratic state in the modern world, showed them great trust in all areas. To expand the activities of youth in state bodies and to coordinate them, the Ministry of Youth and Sports was established by Heydar Aliyev's Decree of July 26, 1994. The Great Leader rendered great services in the development of Azerbaijani youth and their integration into state institutions. The Decree on the declaration of "Youth Day" in Azerbaijan in February 1997 was another step in this direction. Starting from 1996, forums of Azerbaijani youth began to be held. At the I Forum of Azerbaijani Youth held on February 2 of that year, Heydar Aliyev delivered a historic speech, setting honorable tasks for the youth and emphasizing that the primary duty of every young person is to think about the present and future of independent Azerbaijan.
The great leader, who considered the upbringing of youth with national-moral and universal ideas as paramount, addressed the youth saying: "We must be proud of our national-moral values!". One of the most decisive trials for Azerbaijani youth was the 44-day Patriotic War. Our heroic youth, who fought heroically for the Motherland in the ranks of our victorious Army, inscribed their names in golden letters in the modern history of our nation. The independence once protected by the National Leader is today being strengthened by the successful policies of our Mr. President. In our increasingly strong independent and victorious country, Azerbaijani youth always consider the National Leader their source of inspiration, successfully fulfilling their civic mission by promoting his bright thoughts for the future. Today, the innovations and successes of Azerbaijan in the fields of science, healthcare, sports, economy, and military are a manifestation of the attention and care once shown to youth by the Great Leader. We believe that Azerbaijani youth will continue to make their voices heard with dignity in all fields and will always hold the name of Azerbaijan high in the world.
Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev stated: "Today, Azerbaijani youth are an active part of our society. We can rightfully be proud of our youth. Our youth are fighting for land, for the Motherland. The vast majority of our martyrs have been our youth. Our youth have conditioned our military victories," thus valuing and appreciating our youth.
