United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has stated that there is no military solution to the Middle East crisis. He specifically emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts and a ceasefire to de-escalate the current tensions in the region.

The editorial office reports that the Secretary-General stated that political will and continuous engagement from all parties are essential for reaching agreements. He noted the importance of resuming serious negotiations and maintaining a ceasefire, emphasizing that both negotiations and a ceasefire must be pursued simultaneously.

Guterres also stressed the importance of all parties respecting international maritime navigation rights, including in the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that it is time for restraint, responsible conduct, a return to diplomacy, and adherence to international law, adding that existing evidence suggests a high probability of resumed talks between Iran and the US.
