In a vote held at the UN General Assembly, 142 countries supported the implementation of the two-state solution and the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
The editorial office reports that 12 countries abstained, while 10 countries voted against the initiative. Among those who voted against were the US, Hungary, and Argentina.
The adopted resolution reaffirmed the importance of a political process based on international law and existing UN resolutions for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
