According to information, some Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco branded smartphones are approaching the end of their official support period for security updates. Although these devices will remain technically functional, the discontinuation of updates will make them more vulnerable to cyber risks.
The editorial office reports that a number of models released in 2022 and 2023 will no longer receive security patches after reaching the EOL (End of Life) phase. The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro models will be discontinued in the first quarter of the year, the 12X and 12 Lite models in March, and the 12T and 12T Pro models in October. The Redmi Note 12 series will be left without updates in the spring and October, the Poco F5 in May, and the Poco X5 series in the first quarter of the year.
It is noted that older models like the Poco F4 are already in EOL status. While five to six years of security support is planned for the company's new generation devices, previous generation models are typically limited to two to three Android updates and up to four years of security patches.
Experts recommend that users prioritize models with ongoing software support, considering the security risks. Although daily use of devices left without updates is possible, it is considered important to take additional precautions for the protection of personal data.
