Relations with Tajikistan play a unique role in Azerbaijan's cooperation with Central Asian countries

Starting from the beginning of the 21st century, the successes achieved by our country in domestic and foreign policy, especially the historic Victory gained by Azerbaijan in the last five years, the restoration of its territorial integrity and sovereignty, created conditions for the formation of perceptions in the region, as well as in near and far geographies, about what constitutes the power of our state. We would not be mistaken if we say that Azerbaijan, possessing rich hydrocarbon, including renewable energy resources, becoming an active player in the recent period against the backdrop of wars and conflict hotspots occurring in the world, is a natural reality and a demand of the time.

As a result of the thoughtful, purposeful, and wise policy of the Victorious Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the achievements of our country are increasing day by day. Today, relations with Tajikistan also play a unique role in Azerbaijan's cooperation with Central Asian countries. Historical, cultural, and religious ties between the Azerbaijani and Tajik peoples form the basis of relations between the two countries.

The personal friendly relations between Mr. President Ilham Aliyev and Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon also play a significant role in the development of ties between our countries. Mutual political dialogue and regular visits increase the intensity of relations between our countries. This creates a strong foundation for their transition to a new stage. The historical, cultural, and religious ties of our peoples, spanning centuries, have deepened further, especially in recent times, with the political will of the presidents of both countries. Our countries are also united by historical friendly relations, as well as ties in political, parliamentary, humanitarian, trade-economic, and other fields. There are political, economic, parliamentary, cultural, and trade-economic relations between the two countries. The role of parliamentary relations in expanding ties between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan should be particularly noted. A working group on Azerbaijan-Tajikistan inter-parliamentary relations operates within the Milli Majlis.

In both chambers of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan, there is an inter-parliamentary friendship and cooperation group with the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan. As is known, the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held recently in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. The Head of State, who participated in the meeting, voiced important ideas. In his speech, Mr. Ilham Aliyev highly appreciated the level of relations between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan and drew attention to the fact that there are always conditions and trust for opening new pages in the development of relations between our countries.
