Today, for the first time in Azerbaijan, the opening of an Eye Bank will take place.
Modern.az reports that Elmar Gasimov, director of the National Ophthalmology Center, said this at an international scientific-practical conference dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva and the 80th anniversary of the National Ophthalmology Center.
According to him, the establishment of an Eye Bank is necessary for the transplantation of the cornea in Azerbaijan:
"Last year, for the first time in Azerbaijan, a cornea was transplanted from a cadaver donor. Today, we will jointly open the Eye Bank."
