Today, the development of economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia is already being continued through concrete mechanisms and platforms. The statements made and initiatives put forward by the heads of both countries during the official visit of Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs to our country demonstrate great prospects for the future. Considering that just a week ago, a meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission was held in Shusha, the pearl of Karabakh, this visit holds particular importance. Esteemed President Mr. Ilham Aliyev emphasized in his statement to the press that the issues discussed at that meeting and the information provided by the co-chairs clearly defined the future directions of cooperation.
It should be noted that during the Commission's meeting, very promising plans were put forward, and projects that can be jointly implemented in various fields were identified. These projects particularly cover priority areas of the economy and are based on mutual interests. The initiatives put forward are not merely theoretical but concrete steps aimed at real economic results. The head of state also drew attention to the business forum held between the two countries, stating that it plays an important role as a platform for the development of bilateral economic relations. The forum serves to establish direct contacts between entrepreneurs, form new business ties, and strengthen mutual trust.
It was noted that such events are of particular importance for exploring investment opportunities, organizing joint projects, and expanding cooperation in the production sector. President Ilham Aliyev pointed out that the participation of large and high-level delegations from both countries in the business forum is an indicator of interest in cooperation. This, in turn, creates a strong foundation for the future development of economic relations. The head of state stated that the main goal of mutual activity is to achieve concrete results and strengthen this cooperation with real contracts and investment projects.
The head of state also emphasized in his speech that Azerbaijan is an attractive country for foreign partners due to its favorable investment environment, stable economic development, and broad regional opportunities. In this regard, there are ample opportunities for Latvian companies to actively participate in projects implemented in our country. At the same time, favorable conditions exist for Azerbaijani companies to operate in Latvia and gain access to European markets. We believe that both the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the relations established within the business forum will result in the signing of concrete projects and agreements in the near future, which will contribute to elevating economic partnership between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.
