Azerbaijan held an event in Dubai promoting its candidacy for the UPU Council

Azerbaijan is participating in the 28th Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the highest decision-making body, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The editorial office, citing the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, reports that at the Congress, held every four years, the Director General and Deputy Director General of the UPU International Bureau, as well as the chairpersons and members of the Postal Operations Council and the Council of Administration, are elected. This year, our country has put forward its candidacy for membership in both councils of the International Bureau. Prior to the elections, Azerbaijan organized an event aimed at strengthening international relations, establishing cooperation, and promoting our country more closely.

The Ministry's information notes that UPU Director General Masahiko Metoki, PostEurop representatives, and high-ranking officials from postal organizations of over 150 countries participated in the event. Masahiko Metoki informed the participants about Azerbaijan's candidacy and highly appreciated our country's active cooperation with the organization. It was stated at the event that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the development of relations and the implementation of standards in the field of postal operations. Guests were also presented with examples reflecting our country's rich cultural heritage.
