The Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency continues its regulatory and control measures aimed at expanding the access of local food products to international markets, especially to European Union (EU) countries, and strengthening export potential.
As a result of the successful and regular implementation of annual Monitoring Plans for caviar products obtained from aquaculture, the export permit for caviar products derived from sturgeon raised in aquaculture from our country to European markets remains valid for 2025-2026.
At the same time, the Agency has prepared a Monitoring Plan to ensure the access of fish products to EU markets and submitted it to the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission. Consequently, after a technical evaluation by the relevant European body, the Monitoring Plan prepared for the export of Azerbaijani fish to the EU was accepted as compliant.
It should be noted that for the export of animal-origin food products to EU countries to be permitted, the food safety system of the exporting countries, as well as their legislation, control, and regulatory measures in this area, must be harmonized with European legislation. Azerbaijan consistently fulfills its obligations in this direction and continues cooperation with international partners based on mutual trust.
