Significant differences in minimum wage levels are observed among European countries. Varying levels of economic development, social policies, and labor market characteristics directly impact these indicators, creating a large gap between countries.
The editorial reports that according to Eurostat data, among the European Union member states, Bulgaria has the lowest minimum wage, with this indicator amounting to 620 euros. At the same time, the highest minimum wage was recorded in Luxembourg, at a level of 2,704 euros.
The information notes that when candidate countries for the European Union are also included in the statistics, the differences become even more pronounced. Ukraine has the lowest minimum wage at approximately 173 euros, while Moldova lags significantly in this area with an indicator of 319 euros.
According to experts, minimum wage levels are one of the important indicators reflecting the overall economic strength, social protection capabilities, and living standards of countries.
