The EU Commissioner for Enlargement made a strong statement against the Georgian government, stating that the country has only one chance: to change "numerous" anti-European laws.
The commissioner noted in his speech: “The Georgian government is lying to its people. The only way to join the European Union is for them to revise many laws — those that are clearly anti-European.”
These criticisms have caused discontent in Tbilisi, and legal experts state that this demand increases the risk of delaying the country's integration and increasing political tension.
