Payment with foreign bank cards is now possible on metro and buses

Another in a series of events has taken place ahead of the World Urban Forum to be held in Baku in May.

The editorial office reports, citing the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency, that payments with foreign bank cards are now possible on public transport. Specifically, contactless payment using NFC technology has been enabled on public transport via foreign-issued bank cards.

Thanks to this innovation, foreign citizens and tourists will be able to use public transport with their international bank cards without having to obtain additional cards or local payment methods. Previously, payment was only possible with local bank cards supporting NFC.

It should be noted that the NFC payment system was launched last year. This not only creates convenient payment opportunities for passengers but also allows for an increase in service quality.

It is worth recalling that the NFC payment system is currently used in the cities of Baku and Ganja, as well as on Baku-Sumgayit routes.

This innovation in public transport was achieved through joint cooperation with "K-Group" (BakıKart) company and banks.
