German Chancellor Merz has announced a halt to the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. This decision marks a reversal of his previous commitment. Chancellor Merz noted that at the time he made the earlier statement, he believed the German army had enough operational Taurus missiles in reserve to supply Ukraine. However, the current situation has changed, and his previous assumptions are no longer valid.

The editorial reports that Ukraine currently possesses long-range weapons in its own depots that are more effective than the relatively small number of Taurus missiles Germany could supply. The Chancellor emphasized that Ukraine is better armed today than ever before. Some of these weapons have been produced with Germany's assistance.

Nevertheless, Chancellor Merz noted that Ukraine is facing significant financial difficulties. He stated that the issue is not currently being resolved with additional weapons, as weapons are available, but funds need to be mobilized to continue their production. This financial support is necessary to ensure the supply of Ukraine's armed forces.
