The "Alean" company, which has been involved in the development of medical tourism in Azerbaijan for over 20 years, organized an international conference in the capital Baku.
The conference was attended by approximately 250 representatives in total, including representatives of government agencies, diplomats, local experts in the field, representatives from sanatoriums, medical and wellness centers, as well as specialists from countries such as the Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary, and Slovenia.
Speaking at the conference, Göydəniz Qəhrəmanov, a member of the National Assembly, stated that the opportunities for health tourism in our country are extensive. It was noted that health tourism is important not only for the development of medical services but also for improving people's overall well-being and quality of life. He stated that significant steps have been taken in recent years towards the development of health tourism in our country, and the quality and accessibility of medical services have significantly increased.
In his speech, Milan Sedlaçek, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to our country, touched upon the importance of the event. He stated that Azerbaijan has great potential in the field of medical tourism and significant achievements have been made in this area.
Subsequently, representatives of AZAL, Turkish Airlines, as well as the country's leading hotel companies, emphasized that the development of medical tourism in Azerbaijan will significantly contribute to increasing the country's international recognition and competitiveness.
Regina Məhərrəmova, a business development specialist at "Alean" tour operator company, stated in an interview with journalists that the "İstisu" Therapeutic-Recreational Complex, which will open next year in Kalbajar, will further boost the development of this sector. "As the 'Alean' tour operator company, we are interested in the development of medical tourism in the country and are implementing various projects for the advancement of this field."
During the panel sessions at the conference, discussions were held on the formation of a wellness tourism model in Azerbaijan, the integration of international practices, increasing competitiveness in this field, ensuring SPA and thermal therapy standards, destination certification, personnel training, as well as future development directions for medical tourism in our country, international accreditation, effective cooperation mechanisms between the healthcare and tourism sectors, strengthening institutional capacity in the medical tourism sector, and new approaches to ensuring ethical medical practices and sustainable development.
During the event, B2B meetings were held among participants, and opportunities for joint cooperation were discussed.
