US Intelligence: Iran Increases Its Influence in the Region

Reports from American intelligence services indicate that a US and Israeli operation against Iran could lead to an increase in Tehran's influence in the region.

Reuters reported this, citing sources.

According to the information, Iran is unlikely to open the Strait of Hormuz anytime soon, as Tehran views its control over the strait as the only real leverage against the US. It was noted that a war aimed at weakening Iran could, on the contrary, strengthen its position by demonstrating its ability to threaten a vital maritime route.

Experts believe that controlling the supply of energy resources through the strait is far more effective than even nuclear weapons.

However, the White House stated that US President Donald Trump is confident the strait will be opened very soon.

Analysts also warn that any potential operation by the US to establish control over the strait carries serious risks, as Iran is capable of striking American forces with missiles and UAVs from its territory.

It should be recalled that the US and Israel launched a joint operation against Iran on February 28. In response, Iran launched missiles into Israeli territory. Additionally, Iranian forces attacked US military bases located in Persian Gulf countries. Due to the situation in the Middle East, some countries in the region temporarily closed their airspace. On the same day, Iran's supreme religious leader Ali Khamenei was killed as a result of US and Israeli attacks.

Previously, it was reported that the US had sent a 15-point plan to the Iranian authorities to end the Middle East conflict.
