The sale of meat products of unknown origin and unfit for consumption was discovered at a meat cutting point operating in one of the food warehouses located in Nizami district.

This was stated in a joint announcement by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency.

It was noted that, as a result, Elnur Aghayev, the owner of the said point, as well as Habil Zulfugarov, Rufat Dashdamirov, Telman Mirzayev, Amrah Babayev, and Ahliman Majidov, who worked under his leadership, were detained. During an inspection of the workshop, nearly 2 tons of low-quality meat products that did not meet standards were discovered.

Investigations revealed that E. Aghayev and others purchased sick cattle, as well as those no longer usable in farming, at a low price, processed them, and then put them up for sale under the guise of quality meat products. Samples were taken from these meats and sent to the laboratory of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency. During the appointed examinations, it was confirmed that the discovered meat was unfit for consumption.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
